Description:
The federal government purchases literally millions of products, supplies, equipment, and vehicles, every year to assist government agencies in doing their jobs. Given the sheer bulk of the purchasing, a large surplus is inevitable. This surplus is managed by GSA through the Federal Surplus Personal Property Donation Program.

When certain items are no longer required by the federal government, the items are declared surplus by GSA and made available for transfer to State Agencies for Surplus Property (SASPs). In accordance with the law, SASPs have been established by each state to distribute Federal Surplus Property to eligible state and local governments and nonprofit recipients called donees.
